RIDBC Signing Choir

RIDBC Signing Choir
A performance by the signing choir of the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children is an incredibly visual and moving experience that has to be seen to be understood.

The children in the choir are all students of the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (RIDBC), are profoundly deaf, and communicate using Australian Sign Language (Auslan).

The choir love to perform and its resume is impressive. It has performed with the likes of Julie Anthony, Monica Trapaga and The Wiggles, and at events as diverse as the Premier Children's Week and the Amnesty Australia National Candle Launch.

The choir has quite a large repertoire of songs which it performs in Auslan. Their teacher/choirmaster, who is hearing, provides guidance for the rhythm and timing.

Ngapartji Ngapartji

Ngapartji Ngapartji is a cross cultural social change project using arts-based community development. The project was developed by Scott Rankin, Trevor Jamieson and the Jamieson family in an attempt to draw awareness to and halt the irreplaceable loss of Indigenous language and culture.

The project acknowledges the pain and hardships of people living away from their homelands and that of Indigenous people being forced to play host to others across their land.

Five performers from Ngapartji Ngapartji will entertain passengers on this year's Charity Flight during the luncheon with their beautiful vocal harmonies.
